Sunday School is back! This week’s Sunday School lesson is all about selecting your venue. During the wedding planning process, there will be many important checklist tasks to tackle. High on that list should be choosing your wedding venue. I know this can be a daunting task but the three items below will help you choose your venue.
1. The first step is to take a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle of the paper. On the left side, write your “must haves” that a venue will need before you book. The left side could include the venue price or the venue must accommodate up to 300 people. Try narrowing down your top three by placing an asterisk beside each.
On the right side of the paper write your desires. These will be items that would be great to have but wouldn’t necessarily keep you from renting a certain venue, if the venue is lacking these items. The right side might include 8 ft chandeliers or cream drapery around the ceremony site.
2. Narrow down three or four venues that you will like to visit. This is a crucial step where your wedding planner can help. With her expertise and local venue knowledge, she can recommend venues based on your budget and desires. It’s important that you visit each venue that you are considering to ensure it can potentially meet your wants and desires.
3. Did you find your venue after step 2? If not, repeat step 2 with new venue choices. You may have to shift items on your list from left to right and vice verse until you find the perfect venue for your big day.

Venues can book out as far as a year in advance, so make sure you start this process early. You may have to re-do and re-arrange your “must haves” and desires a couple of times to find a great fit.
