Choosing your wedding cake is another fun part of the wedding planning process. Ladies, in addition to the budget, this is where your man will probably have some input.
Your wedding cake should not only look good but taste good. It can be the focal point of your reception. There are so many flavors to choose – strawberry, red velvet, almond, I love coffee, coconut and old fashioned pound cake are just a few. Hungry, yet? With so many flavors, fillings and designs to choose, it is important to sit down with your cake designer for a consultation and cake tasting.
We had the opportunity to catch up with Connie Jarrett of Connie Cakes to get the three things you must do before your tasting.
Timeline
Connie suggests researching and choosing your cake designer six months prior to your wedding. This timeframe allots for you to choose the right person and a better chance that your chosen person will have your date available.
Guest Count
Keepng in mind of the timeline for ordering your invitations and your cake, the majority of your RVSP’s won’t be back. Connie’s tip is to cut 20% off the guest count to determine your cake serving. For example, if you are inviting 150 guests, consider your cake serving to feed 120 guests.
Cake Design
By the time you sit down with your cake designer, you should already have some ideas of the design of your cake. As with everything, Pinterest has some great ideas. You can check out Connie’s cake ideas here and my ideas here.
