Β At times, people will transpose or interchangeably use the words Escort card and Place card. These indeed have different meanings.
Escort Cards
An escort card informs guests of their assigned table. These are placed in alphabetical order at the entrance of the wedding reception or event. I encourage you to think outside the box and tie your escort cards with your event theme. We found a few neat ideas that we wanted to share.

Place Cards
Place cards are placed at each table setting to let guests know where to sit. In more formal events, they are also used to indicate the entree choice.

You may not always have the need for place cards.Β But, it’s ideal to use escort cards because they keep down the chaos of guest hunting for a seat.
Excellent post. As a stationery designer, this is something that causes much confusion when clients and I are designing. I really love the way you found a variety of different styles of images as well. They don’t all have to be tented place cards. π
I agree! I try to get my clients to think outside the box when it comes to their escort tables and even their place cards.
I like the variety of cards. There is something for everyone.
Definitely Stacey! I love the different cards not just the traditional tented cards.
Great post. People always interchange these two and your post really gives a good simple explanation of both. Great options for design too.
