I was interviewed and featured in the Hidden Gems section of the Nashville Voyager. We love when our vendor partners refer us to clients but equally excited and thankful when we are referred to local publications.

The Nashville Voyager is part of the LA-based Voyage Group of Magazines. Their mission is to promote mom and pops, artists, creatives, makers and small businesses by providing a platform for these hidden gems to tell their stories in their own words.

One of my questions during the interview was “Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?”

Let me introduce myself. I am Tanza Perry Cooper, a wedding planner in Nashville, TN. Not only do I plan weddings, but I also plan other events such as milestone celebrations, corporate, business to business and non-profit events. Although I am based in Nashville, I travel to other locations to plan celebrations as well. I realize I’ve been coming to this platform and giving advice since 2010. But, I have yet to formally introduce myself.

I am originally from the big city of Paris…..no, not that one but Paris, TN. THE other Paris is on my list to visit one day. I love waterfalls, chocolate, reading romance novels, reading business blogs, entertaining and I have a weird obsession with pretty office supplies. I LOVE traveling but I have OCD about the cleanliness of hotels. If you travel with me, just know that I am going to bring disinfectant wipes to wipe everything down including door handles. Note: I was like this long before the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, I dislike exercise so much but I do it anyway.

I’m passionate about my business and the non-profit I founded in memory of my mother. My non-profit awards scholarships to local students from my hometown.

I’ve often been asked why I plan events.

It’s more simple than you think. It wasn’t because I planned my wedding that made me want to become a planner. Simply put, I have a very antisocial husband. I love entertaining and I believe you don’t need a special day to celebrate. He, on the other hand can take it or leave it, preferably “leave it”. In his words, let’s have one big get together for the year to “check the block”. As the family of an Army officer, it was expected (kinda an unwritten rule) that you entertain frequently. If nothing else, you would have the shop (office co-workers) over for dinner or some sort of get together. I had to seriously talk him into doing this at each and every duty station.

For me, I feel one should celebrate every day. Well, at least entertain often. Life is too short. I feel these celebrations should include your cutest outfit, your closest friends, and the most stylish decor. So, becoming an event planner allowed me to be immersed in the world of celebrations and entertainment.

I love coming up with ideas and turning those ideas into a beautiful celebration. The thrill of planning celebrations for me is working behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly, and ensuring the guests have a great time.

What sets me apart?

I am an Army wife that is strong, resilient, and committed! I have spent the majority of my adult life developing skills that transcended me into producing successful and memorable celebrations. I know how to nurture relationships old and new while making tough decisions with a kind heart.

With my many relocation moves every three years or so, I have learned to adapt to new surroundings and different cultures. All of these qualities positively effect my interaction with clients, creative team members, and venues. In addition to these personal qualities, I don’t limit my time on-site at your celebration. I am going to be at the venue door greeting you as you arrive and I will not leave until your last guest leaves the building.

A Collaboration: Our Industrial Vibe Photo Shoot and Meeting
I had the opportunity to help plan and produce the Nashville Wedding Planner Group‘s (NWPG) October meeting with some wonderful planners – Modern Vintage Events, Christina Logan Design and Sweet James Events. NWPG is a group of local Nashville planners in which I have been a member for two years.

For the October meeting, we were going with a theme that could be translated into a bridal shower. The setting was at Flavor Catering’s industrial vibe space. Of course, we couldn’t pull this meeting off without the many vendors that volunteered their time and talent. Many thanks to 3rd Coast DJ, Flavor Catering, CK Photo (she took all of the photos featured in this article), Mason & Co, Lauren Marie Atkinson Designs, Designs in Paper, J Jackson Mobile Mixologist, Red Wine and Spirits and 12th Table.

LHE Styled Shoot: Luxury Rose
Did you recently get snow in your area? Here, in Nashville we certainly did. It was beautiful and lasted about a day or so.This past weekend’s snowfall reminded me of my winter styled shoot that I never blogged. Yikes! I partnered with Jessica and Sarah Photography and Sugar Fashion Cakes to bring my Luxury Rose vision to life.

The grounds of Camp Carlson in Kentucky became the beautiful backdrop for our models, the real life Army couple, Michelle and Javony. They were amazing to work with and braved the bitter cold and snow, without complaint.

I love personalizing celebrations with details. For this styled shoot, I asked Michele to wear my sweet grandmother’s faux fur coat. Although the coat was slightly big, it still looked beauitful and added a special touch to this winter luxury rose styled shoot.

Note: This upcoming Sunday, during Sunday School, we are giving advice on invitations and the guest list. You will get the chance to hear from a special invitation guru. You don’t want to miss it.

The New Look For LeeHenry Events LLC
Throw the confetti! Toss some sparkle! I am so excited to announce today is launch day for the all new LHE brand. I have been working with designers for the last few months to make this new look happen. The process started with me digging deep to determine my ideal client. After realizing my ideal client was someone I personally knew, I took her to lunch to pick her brain. Not only was she extremely helpful, she has since hired me to plan a celebration.

Feminine, soft, timeless, chic, luxurious, classic and modern are some words I felt truly represented me along with my ideal client. So, designing the logo, watermark and pattern to reflect a classic and timeless design with a modern feel was the task of Golden Fox Design (GFD). I think GFD knocked it out of the park with my new logo! What do you think?

Next up, this beautiful mobile responsive website designed by the talented Patricia from Fancy Girl Designs. I found Patricia in a Facebook group for women entrepreneurs. I ~~stalked~~ followed her for awhile on social media and loved the look of her designs. Remember my criteria for the logo? Feminine, soft, timeless, chic, luxurious, classic and modern are truly all the words reflected in my overall website design as well.

To round out the design of the website, I designed a styled shoot to depict my style. I wanted the images from the shoot to show on the home page slider and in various areas throughout the site. I was blessed to partner with Jessica of Jessica Ryan Photography, Sarah from Fashion Sugar Cakes (who was a contestant on HGTV’s Cake Wars) and models Javonny and Michelle (a real life dual military husband and wife). Thank you ladies and gent for braving the cold to get the best shots!

This sums up the long journey to get to this point and the key individuals that made it happen! I’m so appreciative to each of you for making this “baby” of mine come to life.

There is a new look and new website around here but I still offer the same great service, attention to detail and experience.
