Welcome to this season’s Sunday School for Engaged Couples series. Are you dreaming of going from Miss to Mrs during this engagement season? If you are hoping to get that sparkly diamond or already have one, then this series is for you. The first item on your checklist is to be an organized bride. More on that later but first let’s discuss engagement season.
Engagement season, in case you are wondering occurs between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. It is a period where an increased number of couples get engaged. Of course, engagements can occur at any time of the year; however, this is a timeframe where the numbers seem to spike.
Now that you understand the term “engagement season” let’s get started being an organized bride. After receiving that sparkly diamond, you should start with the following:
- On a phone app, notebook or computer spreadsheet, write out your wedding goals. Your goals include your budget, what you want your wedding to look like and guest count. Eventually, you may have to scrub this list especially your guest list but this gives you a starting point.
- Gather your guest list and don’t forget to include people your parents plan to invite as well. The number invited is a driving budget factor. This number will determine the type of venue (whether it can accommodate everyone), the number of invitations, tables, centerpieces, amount of food, etc. Read this article to get more information on who should make the guest list. Don’t forget to gather mailing addresses.
- Hire a wedding planner to help you navigate the planning process. Not only are we your advocate but we can streamline your planning process, recommend the best venues and creative partner vendors to fit your style, personality and budget.
These three steps will get you started in the long but exciting journey of planning the most important day of your life.
